If you have developmental concerns for your pēpi, toddler, or child or you have been referred by your Paediatrician, we offer play sessions to discuss your concerns and interact with your child, or telehealth video sessions.
Sometimes atypical development may need support in certain areas or a formal assessment may be required. Formal assessments may occur if a diagnosis outcome will benefit the child in relation to understanding, increased supports, access to services and or funding. Often times referrals may be made to allied health practitioners such as a Speech Pathologist or Occupational Therapist depending on the concerns raised.
We always work alongside your child's GP, Paediatrician, Child Psychiatrist, and allied health practitioners.
We are experienced in providing best practise assessment packages for the concerns you may have for your child or yourself.
For a child assessment referrals will begin with a parent only initial consultation, this may be via video telehealth or in clinic. Exisiting reports provided will be read prior to the initial consultation and correspondence will occur with additional stake holders as required. An observation of your child will be recommended, and often occurs in the child's educational setting.
Following discussion with parents and or the child (if age appropriate), an assessment package will be recommended. This may include one or more formal standardised psychometric assessments (face-to-face) and or questionnaires. The comprehensiveness of the assessment will be discussed and differential diagnosis will be considered in all cases.
The assessment package will include a detailed report, and a follow-up 30-minute telehealth session to discuss the results of the assessment and recommendations.
Here at Cubbiehouse we are experienced in administering best practise Autism Spectrum assessments and Intellectual Disability (ID) assessments. We have completed professional development accredited training in administering ADOS-2 and ADI-R for Autism assessments. All Autism assessment packages are individualised for the clients needs.
We are experienced in providing Autism and ID assessments for clients of all ages. The fees for an Autism and ID assessments will vary dependant on the needs of the client and discussed during the initial consultation.
Following the completion of the assessment, if a diagnosis is recommended, referral to your Paediatrician or Psychiatrist, will be advised to discuss any medical or genetic implications.
It is likely there will be multiple stake-holders involved with the client and their whānau. Support can be offered via further follow up sessions as needed.
ADHD assessments packages will be tailored to the needs of the child and follow best practise guidelines. It will likely involve an IQ assessment (WPPSI-IV or WISC-V), and standardised questionnaires for the child's home and school settings.
The fees for an ADHD assessment will vary dependant on the needs of the child and discussed in the initial telehealth session.
Following the completion of the assessment, if a diagnosis is recommended, referral to your Paediatrician or Psychiatrist, will be advised to formalise the diagnosis and discuss any medical implications or concerns.
Follow up sessions can be offered to ensure recommendations made in the report are implemented.
Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) assessment packages will be tailored to the needs of the child and follow best practise guidelines. It will involve an IQ assessment (WPPSI-IV or WISC-V), and an achievement assessment (WIAT-III). A school observation and discussion with the child's educational setting is highly recommended.
The fees for an SLD assessment will vary dependant on the needs of the child and discussed in the initial telehealth session.
Following the completion of the assessment, if a diagnosis is recommended, discussion with the child's educational setting will be advised.
Follow up sessions can be offered to ensure recommendations made in the report are implemented.
Giftedness and Twice-Exceptional assessment packages will be tailored to the needs of the child. It will likely involve an IQ assessment (WPPSI-IV or WISC-V), and may involve an achievement assessment (WIAT-III). A school observation and discussion with the child's educational setting is highly recommended.
The fees for a Giftedness/T-E assessment will vary dependant on the needs of the child and discussed in the initial telehealth session.
Following the completion of the assessment, if a diagnosis is recommended, discussion with the child's educational setting may be advised.
