Child development generally follows a trajectory with expected ranges. in saying that, tamariki develop at their own individual pace with variations to be expected.
Reach out to us if you have developmental concerns for your pēpi, toddler, child, or adolescent or you have been referred by your GP, preschool or school environment. A preschool or school observation may be a great first step.
Atypical development may need therapy supports or a formal assessment may be required. Formal assessments may occur if a diagnosis outcome will benefit the child in relation to understanding, increased supports, access to services and or funding.
We are experienced in providing best practise assessment pathways for the concerns you may have for your baby, child or adolescent.
An initial session will discuss your child's developmental history, their strengths and your concerns. This may be run in the clinic or via a video telehealth call. An observation of your child may be recommended in their childcare or educational setting.
An assessment pathway may include one or more formal standardised psychometric assessments (face-to-face) and or questionnaires. The comprehensiveness of the assessment will be discussed and differential diagnosis will be considered in all cases.
Here at Cubbiehouse we are experienced in administering best practise Autism Spectrum and Intellectual Disability (ID) assessments. We have completed accredited training in administering ADOS-2 and ADI-R for Autism assessments. All autism assessment packages are individualised for the clients needs. An ADOS-2 can only be run face-to-face. The fees for assessments will vary dependant on the needs of the client and discussed during the initial contact.
Follow up sessions ensure recommendations can be implemented. Onward referrals will be offered at the outset for therapy support needs.
A comprehensive ADHD assessment pathway will be tailored to the needs of the child. It will likely involve an IQ assessment (WPPSI-IV or WISC-V), and standardised questionnaires for the child's home and school settings. A school observation is highly recommended.
Paediatrician and Psychologist collaboration may occur to formalise a diagnosis and discuss any medical implications or concerns.
The fees for an ADHD assessment will vary dependant on the needs of the child and discussed during the initial contact.
Follow up sessions will ensure recommendations can be implemented and any medications are supported.
Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) assessment pathways will be tailored to the needs of the child. They usually involve an IQ assessment (WPPSI-IV or WISC-V), and an achievement assessment (WIAT-III). A school observation may be recommended.
The fees for an SLD assessment will vary dependant on the needs of the child and discussed in the initial contact.

Following the completion of the assessment, if a diagnosis is recommended, discussion with the child's educational setting will be advised.
