Assessment Services
We are specialists in developmental and educational assessments.
DEVELOPMENTAL CONCERNS
Child development generally follows a trajectory with expected ranges; that said, tamariki develop at their own individual pace with variations to be expected.
Reach out to us if you have developmental concerns for your pēpi, toddler, child, or adolescent, or if you have been referred by your GP, preschool, or school environment. A preschool or school observation may be a great first step.
Atypical development may need therapy support, or a formal assessment may be required. Formal assessments may occur if a diagnosis outcome will benefit the child in relation to understanding, increased support, access to services, and or funding.
DIAGNOSIS AND ASSESSMENTS
We are experienced in providing best practice assessment pathways for the concerns you have for your child.
An initial session will discuss your child’s developmental history, their strengths and your concerns. This may be run in the clinic or via a video telehealth call. An observation of your child may be recommended in their childcare or educational setting.
An assessment pathway may include one or more formal standardised psychometric assessments (face-to-face) and or questionnaires. The comprehensiveness of the assessment will be discussed and differential diagnosis will be considered in all cases.

ADHD AND IQ ASSESSMENT
A comprehensive ADHD assessment pathway will be tailored to the needs of the child. It will likely involve an IQ assessment (WPPSI-IV or WISC-V), and standardised questionnaires for the child’s home and school settings. A school observation is highly recommended.
Paediatrician and Psychologist collaboration may occur to formalise a diagnosis and discuss any medical implications or concerns.
The fees for an ADHD assessment will vary depending on the needs of the child and discussed during the initial contact.
